Just be yourself. Madison doesn't seem to care if you are specialized or well-rounded. They have room for everyone.

First of all, guys have a better shot at getting in then girls. I know a couple guys who got in who I know didn't have the kind of grades in high school that warranted admission...but that aside, the main thing is to be involved in high school. Clubs, sports, volunteer...whatever! JMU wants students who aren't just gonna sit in their room, but kids who will get involved with campus life. I honestly think that involvement and personal attributes are weighed more in admission then grades. Also, take hard classes in high school if possible. Even if you don't make the best grades, it's important that you at least try to challenge yourself. Don't take cake classes!!!

AP classes helpDec 06 2003Psychology
AP classes help. I took 6, SAT scores (1000 or above), peronal essay helps and if you're a minority that helps too since they're desperately trying to make JMU more "diverse."
SAT: 1110 Female

This is a great university for academics but somewhat of a hard school to get into. Work hard and take ap and honors courses and be involved!

Just be yourself. Madison likes people with experiences. Also, if you have good scholastic standing, apply for the honors program. It offers lots of extra oppurtunities.
