I skipped the essay and sent in a shortApr 08 2003Political Science
i skipped the essay and sent in a short peice of nonfiction that i had written. i also had a great verbal SAT score. Coming from a good high school seems to help a lot. There are a huge amount of private school kids here. they do seem to look at extracuriculars. Honestly though, i have met a lot of kids here who don't have the best grades and got in.
SAT: 1310 Female
To get into GW I did exactly what IMar 05 2003Other
To get into GW I did exactly what I did to get into other schools that I was accepted by. I completed the application correctly and made sure to do one thing above all else, be myself. Don't fake it, if you want to be happy at an institution let them figure out whether or not you belong there, they know what fits and what won't, so don't try and "fit the mold" just be yourself.
ACT: 29 SAT: 1240 Female
Respectable SAT scores, good essay should do itDec 31 2002Journalism
Respectable SAT scores, good essay should do it. This isn't Georgetown.

Biggest tip to getting in: Make as many officialDec 12 2002Political Science
Biggest tip to getting in: Make as many official inquiries into the school as possible. Call them. Many times. Find current students to talk to. Visit--several times if you can. Most importantly, INTERVIEW. Admissions keeps a record of these things and it shows you really care about going to GW. I had a great interview and I found out later that my interviewer really lobbied on my behalf, and that a huge impact on my acceptance into the School of Media & Public Affairs (the most selective school here--not bragging) and the honors program. DO THE INTERVIEW AND BE YOURSELF. It's SO worth it.
ACT: 31 SAT: 1380 Male
Part of the fun is how little you canOct 28 2002Psychology
Part of the fun is how little you can do on campus and how much fun you can have in the city. Go to the museums, to adam's morgan, Dupont circle and just get off at some stop in the metro and walk around.
If you're into the school activities, check out the plays (audition for some) intramural sports or varstity, politically charged groups, or start your own. (It's really easy to start your own club here)
ACT: 27 SAT: 1120 Female
