I am 57 years old and have an extensive history in business and computers. I had to give them my transcripts from my previous university and feel out the papers. I think that any student needs to be cautious and I will admit I was quite cautious. What I found is that most of the complaints against the university were mainly concerning financial problems. Many grants are based on GPA's and many of these students found that the grants turned to loans when they were unable to meet the required GPA's, which is no fault of the school.

I honestly just applied. I had average SAT scores and a high GPA. They helped work it out for me to get in when I was ready because I took a year off and went to community college first then transfer. They were welcoming and the transfer advisers got me all set up and handled for my first semester. Getting in was the easy part.

I simply spoke to an academic adviser and attended an orientation. Then I advised my academic adviser that I wanted to enroll. I sent in a transcript request form to transfer previous credits I had earned. When my credits were evaluated my AC was able to give me an accurate schedule of what I would be taking. I never received good grades in high school, but by completing credits and a junior college, and another university I was able to enroll without any specifications about being on academic parole.

As an local online student I didn't get as involved as I would have liked now that I look back. But I did enjoy a few basketball games at the new area, attended the fall festival (such fun!) and took advantage of the campus one-on-one tutoring. It's a beautifully well maintained campus.

Run, do not walk, as fast as you can away from gcu. The mission statement is a blatant lie.
