Well, I honestly did not have that impressive of grades in high school. I probably got in because I managed to meet and have lunch with the one of the dept chairs before I applied and think he put in a good word for me. I also wrote what I thought was a pretty good essay in which bassically said what I thought I could bring to the college and what I hoped to achieve there.

I would suggest meeting people, introducing yourself around campus, you never know.

I got a 1210 on my SAT (old one) and still got in. I think it helps that I'm an International Student. I had a bunch of extracurricular activities as well. I suppose if your SAT/ACT isn't up to par, be sure you were involved in high school.
SAT: 1210 Male
For out-of-staters, it's much harderMar 08 2007Business - Management and Administration
For out-of-staters, it's much harder. The acceptance rate is in the low-teens. Basically, it's a crap shoot.
SAT: 1410 Female
I had an A average and 1480/1600 SAT scoreMar 07 2007Chemistry
I had an A average and 1480/1600 SAT score. I did not have that many activites and was out-of-state. Study hard and, if you don't get in, it's probably because you don't live in Virginia.
SAT: 1480 Female
I took time in my application to explain everythingDec 17 2006History/Histories (art history/etc.)
I took time in my application to explain everything. This is not a school that disqualifies you for putting in a little more information. So, if you got a poor grade or didn't score as well on a test as you would have wanted to, explain it. W&M looks at the whole student, so I stressed my extracurriculars and life experiences a lot. Most of the people that I talked to did the optional creative portion.
SAT: 1320 Female
